Band in 2021
This year we hope to return to a semblance of normal band, but we will be subject to certain requirements from the district and Jeffco Public Health. Please know that I will take every precaution to keep all of our kids safe. If at any time you have a concern, please reach out to me!
Some of those precautions include:
Bell covers
Masks when not playing (pulled down to play and right back up when not)
Distancing as mandated by the district/JCPH
Possibly outdoor rehearsals when appropriate
Modified and strategic amounts of rehearsal time
Expectations:
IN CLASS:
Students show up with a ready to work attitude and all of their band materials including instrument, pencil, music binder, and chromebook (used occaisionally but maybe not even every day).
AT HOME:
Students are expected to practice at least 3 times a week for at least 15 minutes. This is the recommended minimum amount of practice to feel comfortable and confident. More is always better, any is better than none. Frequent, short practice sessions have more of an impact than infrequent longer sessions- but again, infrequent is better than never.
